Downtown Seafood in Baton Rouge

Two colleagues and myself ate lunch at Downtown Seafood after wondering around downtown for about a half hour looking at menus while in town for a conference. The menu looked good for us mid-westerners and the place was crowded but still had tables. It was simply amazing. I took the advice of the women at the cash register and ordered the catfish and fries. We all loved our food. .

Fried shrimp had some of the best breading I've ever tasted, and the catfish was very unique but delicious as well! Super cheap, too, for how much they give you! Very chill place to grab a bite

I love to eat here. The owner is always friendly and nice. Great food at a good price. Everything is fresh and fast. I recommend the burger, grilled chicken sandwich and seafood combos.

Fish and shrimp are really good. Their hamburgers are one of the best.

The fried oyster is so good. The staffs are also so nice and friendly. She gave us free samples to try (which helped a lot in decision making).Really worth visiting to fill your hungry tummy! 😋

Five stars for the food AND the prices. The food is definitely tasty and cost allows me to pick up the tab for a co-worker, friend or a stranger. The owners and employees provide terrific service. But, the establishment is another story (clean the floors🕒).

This place is only open for lunch on weekdays. It serves one of the best burgers downtown. Burgers are juicy and well seasoned and the staff is very nice. One of my favorite places to go for lunch.

Great big juicy burger in and out service great staff always

Good food for a quick bit, there's a combination plate which let you try the different dishes, but the service was outstanding. As it's in the heart of downtown parking is limited but short and easy walk once you find a spot.

Great Po-Boys! Fresh bread and fresh seafood. Definitely a place to hit up for lunch!

I love this place and the fact that the owner runs the grill. It's nothing big or fancy, but what they do they do it right. It's a classic neighborhood joint with that southern hospitality vibe. I've never left there disappointed.

Great hamburgers

Extraordinarily disappointed. This place has AMAZING food, let me start with that. But the time it takes them to dispense it is unacceptable. I placed an order at 12:29 my lunch break is from 12:00 to 1. It was 1:05 before I got my food. And they handed it to me like it was justified.

Great food and lots of it for a reasonable price. The service is fast and friendly. The location is fantastic but I feel like the inside decor could be improved on to help with the overall experience.

Wonderful staff, delicious burger!

Hubby and I ate here a few weeks ago. It doesn't look like much, but the food was really good. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and their (I'm guessing) homemade honey mustard dressing was out of this world! Hope that we can visit again soon.**The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that the atmosphere was lacking. Spruce it up a little, nothing over the top, and it would definitely get a 5 star review.**

Food is good. Atmosphere is terrible. Mainly a pickup and go kinda place. Not for romantic or social meals.

It's a nice quick bite. Like fast food restaurant. Staff is really friendly, overall good experience. Food could've been fresher but still pretty good.

My first visit I ordered seafood platter i was speechless everything was perfect. My second visit I ordered the cheeseburger fully dressed add bacon #OMG its huge #booyah 💪🔥💯 I loved it, The amazing staff is very friendly and services was speedy. Went in on my 30 minute lunch break today, waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged just for the lady behind the counter to tell me the wait was 30 minutes. TRASH service ! Edit***In response to the representative of the restaurant, yes I expect a wait for food but not something as simple as “Hi how are you, I’ll be with you in just a minute.” There were also other customers attempting to get your attention and ask you a question however you continued on as if they didn’t say anything to you! Seems like ignoring customers is something you do often

Mr. Henry makes one of the best burgers in Baton Rouge. For 10 bucks you get a thick, all beef burger with fries and a 20 ounce fountain drink. 1 dollar extra gets you a 32 ounce drink. Both he and his staff are friendly. He also serves seafood, of course, but I go for the burgers. It is worth swinging by, but they close at 3pm during the week. They do stay open late for New Year's eve and Mardi Grad and for most downtown festivals.

Had a burger from here for the first time and it was soo big and juicy. I normally get seafood but the burgers are great.

As soon as we walked in the chef gave us free shrimp samples and this made it so easy for us to order. The food was fresh and very well seasoned.the portion sizes were great!the staff was very friendly!

I guess they have bad days the shrimp and fish is overcooked today. I’m usually raving about this place. Such a disappointment.

The fish and shrimp were fried too hard, but the fries were good. The cashier who took my order was extremely nice and very welcoming. The salad was okay, nothing to relish over.

The second I walked in, the head man in charge asked, "have you esten here before? Here, try a sample", and handed me a piece of shrimp. The shrimp was so good, I immediately asked for a mixed plate of seafood. Very friendly environment and great food!

Great place to get food and awesome stuff.

We had been at the levy and old Capitol building most of the morning and were tired hot and hungry. We stopped in at Downtown Seafood. We were met at the door with a sample of fried shrimp which told me we were in for a treat. Darlene ordered a burger and fries and I a shrimp Po Boy. Wow the burger was massive and really great. The Po Boy was amazing with some of the best shrimp I have had in a long time. I strongly recommend a stop here while downtown, you will not be disappointed.

Very outdated. Counter ordering. Food all served in takeout Styrofoam with bagged plastic utensils but seafood platter portions great.
